Henri Cartier Bresson

I chose this photo because I love how it made me feel when I first saw it. It looks like a place untouched by humankind then there is this old canoe that has become taken over by the nature around, like nature is taking back its "space". This photo evokes a lot of emotion. I love how the surrounding rock walls almost frame the canoe.
I like this photo because it confuses me. The scene seems like a happy scene but it is almost eerie to look at. At first glance it looks like a sailor on a nice sunny day taking a nap but as I looked at the photo closer I noticed the strange figure in the top left corner and what looks like almost a fog in front of the man. This photo left me wanting to know more about what was going on in the photograph. I think there is great contrast between the nice bright sky and the dark pillar in the back.

Project 7 Proposals

The Life of a farrier
For this I will try to capture the strenuous work of a farrier. I will accomplish this by showing the amount of materials and tools that are required. I will show how the farrier gets the horses and shoes their hooves. I want to communicate this trade that is hundreds of years old is still a necessary service in the equine world.
Shot list:
Farrier preparing his appointments for the day
Farrier preparing for his day loading anvils, horse shoes, hammers and files into his truck.
Preparing the horse
cleaning the frog of the hoof
the process of trimming the hoof
filing the hoof
applying shoes
returning the horse and cleaning the area

The life of an organic chicken and egg farmer
For this I will try to capture the work of an organic egg farmer and the process of collecting and selling the eggs. I will accomplish this by photographing the daily tasks that are required to care for free range chickens and how the eggs are cleaned and prepared for selling. I want to communicate the hard work in takes to have and maintain chickens and the reward of having farm fresh eggs.
Shot List:
Early morning, letting the chickens out of the coop
filling the feeders and water buckets
tending to the chicks and checking on the hens
collecting the eggs from the nesting boxes
cleaning the eggs
loading the eggs into cartons
eating a farm fresh egg or selling the eggs
